Why I Started a Skincare Routine for My Dog (Yes, Really!)

Okay, hear me out: I started a skincare routine for my dog, Lando. I know it might sound extra, but when you have a pup like mine—energetic, outdoorsy, and with a penchant for diving into every pile of leaves or patch of grass—you start to notice when their skin needs a little TLC. And that’s exactly how I found myself falling in love with Floof’s Skin Saver Routine.

A (Not So) Secret Skin Struggle

Lando has always had sensitive skin. After almost every outdoor adventure, he’d come home with itchy paws, redness, and this constant urge to scratch. At first, I thought it was just part of being a dog. But when his scratching turned into hot spots and irritated skin, I knew I had to do something more. That’s when I discovered Floof—a line of science-backed, vet dermatologist-formulated products that promised to take care of Lando’s skin while being gentle and safe.

The Floof Transformation

The first time I used Floof’s Skin Saver Routine on Lando, I was honestly a little skeptical. I mean, could wipes, spray, and cream really make a difference? But after one afternoon of playtime, I pulled out the Renewing Wipes and started gently cleaning his paws and belly (which were covered in grass and dirt, as usual). These weren’t your average dog wipes—thick, durable, and packed with soothing ingredients like aloe and chamomile, they smelled amazing (naturally, of course) and felt moisturizing rather than drying.

Next came the Smart Skin Spray. I spritzed it all over his paws and a couple of spots on his belly where he was prone to redness. The coolest part? Lando didn’t even flinch—probably because the spray is so gentle and doesn’t sting like other sprays. It's powered by hypochlorous acid, a naturally occurring substance that fights bacteria and inflammation, and it instantly soothed his skin, and relieved his itching and licking!

Finally, I applied the Soothing Cream to his paws. Unlike those sticky balms I’d used in the past, this cream absorbed deeply into his paws instead of just leaving a waxy residue on the top. And the best part? The next day, his paw skin STILL looked moisturized.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

A Fun New Routine (for Both of Us!)

What started as a way to fix a problem quickly became a bonding moment for Lando and me. Floof’s products are designed to be used daily, but even if you’re busy (like me!), just 2-3 times a week after playtime works wonders. We’ve turned it into a post-walk ritual: as soon as we get home, Lando waits patiently while I pull out the Floof goodies. I clean his paws, give him a little spray, and finish with a paw massage using the soothing cream. It’s become our version of “self-care Sunday.” If your dog is a little hesitant to grooming, try pairing it with a high-value treat so they associate the grooming with something yummy.

The Big Difference

Since we started using Floof, Lando’s skin has never looked better. No more paw-licking, no more hot spots, and no more restless scratching. I’ve even noticed that his fur feels softer and shinier.

Floof has given me the tools to care for Lando’s skin at home in a way that’s effective and fun. Plus, the adorable tote bag that comes with the Skin Saver Routine is just the cherry on top—perfect for carrying all our skincare essentials when we’re on the go.

Why I’ll Never Go Back

Lando’s transformation with Floof isn’t just about looking good; it’s about keeping him comfortable and happy.

Did you know that the number one reason people take their dog's to the vet is due to skin related reasons? We all think a lot about diet and supplements for our dogs, but topical care is just as important.

As pet parents, we want the best for our dogs, and skin health is a huge part of that. It’s easy to overlook, but with products like Floof, taking care of our pups’ skin becomes simple, fun, and—dare I say—essential. The fact that the product was formulated by a vet dermatologist is another plus.

So, if you’ve ever wondered whether your dog might benefit from a skincare routine, take it from Lando and me: it’s absolutely worth it. And Floof makes it easy (and cute!) to keep your dog’s skin and paws feeling their best—because why shouldn’t our furry best friends get a little pampering too?
