We love spoiling our pups. Better yet? Showering them with toys and treats—while supporting local businesses (often run by fellow dog parents)!
Here are some ideas to shop small for and with our pets.
Attend local festivals, craft fairs, and other events
Juniper dog parent Kelly says she loves taking her dog Moose to pet-friendly festivals and events. "St. Louis is really big on supporting local businesses," she says, "so I take [him] to a lot of festivals/events. That’s where I get most of his tracheas and fun snacks."
A bonus of showing up in person? You won't have to pay for shipping! Plus you get to chat with business owners firsthand, learning about their process and passion for pets.
Stop by your nearest farmers market
Kelly also likes to check out local farmers markets when she travels, where she often finds pet-focused booths. "I recommend checking out your local farmers markets because they are passionate about what they do," she says. "And their ingredients are high quality and natural."
Going somewhere with your dog?
As always: Make sure you check any rules and regulations before bringing your pet somewhere new. And if you aren't sure if your four-legged companion will enjoy the experience, we've put together another blog to help you make the right decision!
Find custom gear and accessories on Etsy
There's a reason multiple different Etsy stores made our Holiday Gift Guide this year. Small creators bring so much to the table—we especially love the range of custom options where you can choose colors, illustrations, and more to get exactly what you're looking for. You can easily get lost in the oodles of Etsy listings for everything from stylish dog water bowls to handmade toys to accessories for the human end of the leash.
Ask fellow dog parents for their favorite recommendations
Some of the best treats, toys, and gear you buy might come from a "friend of a friend of a friend" who you discovered by simply asking around. You might not even realize the connections you have! If you're in the market for something new and looking to shop small, ask your family members, friends, or ask in the Juniper community (joining is free! Just drop your email on any of the signup forms on this site.)
What’s a Rich Text element?
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
Static and dynamic content editing
Static and dynamic content editing
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
How to customize formatting for each rich text
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
